MAIN ACTIVITIES: Legal advice office; labour-related advice and assistance; skills development for youth; gender-based violence interventions
Ubuntu RWYM started as a response to the evictions on state-owned farms in the Stellenbosch area. The organisation has grown and works mainly in the Boland farming region of the Western Cape
Their main activities during 2020 focussed on
- food relief for vulnerable communities
- helping the unemployed to access the R350 Covid relief grants
- access to water for evicted communities and farm dwellers without running water/access to clean drinkable water
- monitoring TERS applications
- unfair dismissals and labour related matters
- capacity building workshops on land rights and GBV
- protest action to support evictees and to promote an end to GBV
