The Adelaide Advice Office is a registered non-profit organisation established in 1984 by local human rights activists in order to assist people in their community who were victims of inequality and discrimination. After 1994 the organisation became a fullyfledged Advice Office providing paralegal services to people with limited access to justice and advocacy work for people affected and infected with HIV/Aids. In addition the office conducts programmes aimed at empowering the youth to be economically active members of society. Adelaide is one of SCAT’s longest funded partner organisations.
The Advice Office handles between 250 and 300 cases per annum.
