MAIN CHALLENGES FACED BY THE COMMUNITY: poverty, unemployment, HIV/Aids, orphans and vulnerable children
MAIN ACTIVITIES: community feeding scheme; food gardening; skills development for youth; HIV/Aids Awareness, educational advocacy and after-school activities.
Morwakola Drop-in Centre is a registered NPO based in Ga Mashashane village, under Polokwane municipality. The CBO is led by a management committee made up of 7 members which include the local induna, retired teachers, and retired police officers. The CBO renders services to more than 300 orphans and vulnerable children as well as vulnerable women and youth.
Among the vulnerable children, the CBO feeds 152 child-headed families in three different villages around the Mashashane area. They also address the stigma around people living with HIV/AIDS by providing awareness training at the centres.
